Whether the weather is cold or hot
This winter we are experiencing some of the coldest weather in many years but whether the weather is cold or hot there is still plenty of great fishing action along the Space Coast. The following three photos were taken during charters over the past two weeks – the first from a near 80 degree day […]
Peter’s New Ride
Capt. Peter recently purchased a 19 foot Hewes Bayfisher to add to the Native Sons Fishing Fleet. This top-of-the-line flats-style boat is powered by 115 hsp Yamaha engine and features a very fast, shallow and smooth ride across our inshore river lagoon system. He has already started guiding charters with the boat and it has […]
Snook and Tarpon Closure Extended
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has issued executive orders to protect Florida’s snook, bonefish and tarpon fisheries from further harm caused by the recent prolonged cold weather in the state, which has caused widespread saltwater fish kills. These executive orders extends the statewide snook closure seasons through August 13, 2010. This means […]
Family Fishing Fun
Please allow a proud granddad to brag a bit as I had the unbelievably joyful experience of taking two of our three grandchildren fishing for the first time; Jenny, aged four, and Rockett, aged two, along with Rusty, their father and our son. We spent several glorious hours during the Christmas holidays boating, fishing, exploring […]
All a Matter of Perspective
I was reading some study materials the other day and stumbled across a quote worthy of passing along. “Consider the story of Charles Francis Adams, the nineteenth-century diplomat. One day, he went fishing with his son, Brook. At the end of the day, the father made an entry in his diary: ‘Went fishing with my […]

Where Have You Gone Joe DiMaggio?
It has been a while since we’ve updated the website and folks are beginning ask questions. We are very much alive and well and fishing hard along the shallow waters of the central east coast of Florida. Capt. Roland took some time off this summer as he waded through boat and motor issues. He is […]
It’s Tarpon Time!
Tarpon are our most spectacular summer species and they have returned to our waters with a particularly feisty attitude this season. Over the past two weeks we’ve been catching the ‘poons’ up the creeks feeding the Indian River and off the beaches, just outside Port Canaveral and Sebastian Inlet. Known for their awesome aerial displays, […]
Way to go Wesley!
Wesley Miller, an eight year old Satellite Beach native, won the Florida Flatsfishing Association’s Junior Angler Inshore Tournament this afternoon. Fishing with Marcel Pope and Capt. Rocky in the Sebastian segment of the Indian River, young Wesley boated a giant 25 lb snook after a classic, electrifying shallow-water snook-fight. He also caught seven gator-trout and […]
